I love this guy. We have been together for over 20 years.... from college days to newlyweds, newborns to carpooling, from NJ to MD to WV to PA and back to NJ. We have been together for, let's face it, all of my "adult" life. There is NO ONE I would rather be on this crazy journey with than him. He makes me laugh and smile every day and together we are even better than we are apart. We make a great team.
Back in April when I decided to make a change for my health and wellness and begin a nutritional cleanse, he was my biggest supporter. When I began to start feeling the effects of better nutrition he cheered for me and watched in amazement as I stopped using my allergy medicine, started having more energy, and generally started feeling better. There has never been a time in 20 years that he hasn't told me I was beautiful.....I don't always believe him but he has never faltered. So when I started to lose pounds and inches he was happy that I was happy but he was mostly thrilled that I was feeling better inside and out.
After several months of clean eating, wonderful shakes, and continued good health he decided that he wanted to give this a try for himself. Like I said, we are a team and he wanted to feel as good as his teammate..... :-) So he joined me on this health and wellness journey first with a morning shake, then with some of my "secret weapon" first thing in the morning. Within days, he was boasting of his increased energy and how great he felt. Even days in which he taught several surf lessons in a row he would come home feeling energized. His knee, which gives him chronic pain after several surgeries years ago, started giving him less problems. After a session of soccer with our boys, his knee was not swollen and sore like it normally is after such activity. I always think this guy is handsome...for more than 20 years he has made my heart skip a beat... but there is something about good health on the inside that radiates to the outside.
Yesterday we had a wonderful date day together...not something this team gets often with three kids. But yesterday, our kids all went with friends for the day and we got to go out to dinner with some great friends and then spend some much needed time together.
I realize as I type that truly a picture speaks a thousand words..... I can explain to you how nutritional cleansing and good health has changed us, made us better versions of ourselves. I can tell you how good we feel, how the weight has melted off, how we feel younger than we have in years. I can tell you how a simple decision has paid off in spades... a simple choice to put good nutrition in our bodies was simply the spark that ignited the fire of wellness - inside and out. I can tell you all of that and more.. or you could just look at this picture. I think this "selfie" captured it all. Good health on the inside shows on the outside - it is as simple as that.
